Rights to Colin Wilson’s Acclaimed Novel “The Space Vampires” to be Adapted as an Episodic Series
Beverly Hills, CA – November 20, 2013 – Diverison3 Entertainment, a Beverly Hills-based rights acquisition and development company, announced today that it had acquired rights to the Colin Wilson novel, “The Space Vampires,” for adaptation as a new episodic series entitled “Lifeforce.”
The novel, which had previously been produced as a feature film under the name “Lifeforce,” follows a group of astronauts who encounter a derelict alien spacecraft hiding an ancient secret. The explorers rendezvous with the vessel and discover three perfect humanoids that are returned to Earth where they escape to unleash a terrible plague upon the planet. The film adaptation was an international hit when it was released in 1985 and starred Steve Railsback (“The Stunt Man,” “Helter Skelter”), Patrick Stewart (“Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”), and Mathilda May.
“The concepts of this work make for exceptional storytelling,” explained Steve B. Harris, who will executive produce under his Ringleader Studios banner. “We’re looking forward to the challenge and opportunity of creating a vibrant adventure that embraces the sensual and horrific themes of the book.”
Ringleader plans to further elaborate on the universe of the “Lifeforce” series by introducing an array of digital extensions that include a graphic novel, social media applications, and other elements in the near future.
The literary deal was brokered by Al Zuckerman of Writers House on behalf of Colin and Joy Wilson.
